You'll also learn how to tailor Mark Done to fit your workflow, with flexible options to customize your experience, track your progress, and stay on top of deadlines effortlessly.
Add Category
Organize your tasks effortlessly with custom categories tailored to your workflow. Easily group similar tasks together to keep your projects structured and manageable, helping you stay focused and productive.
To add a new category, simply navigate to the left menu—it's the first option. Once clicked, the 'Add Category' form will open, allowing you to create and customize your categories. You'll be able to choose a unique icon and select a color to personalize each category to fit your needs.
At the moment, this is the only way to add categories, but it’s designed to be quick, simple, and somewhat customizable.
Add Task
Quickly add new tasks with just a few clicks, streamlining your workflow and ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. You can assign tasks to categories, set due dates, and mark priorities, so every task gets the attention it deserves.
When using the main task form, if you don’t set a specific time and date, Mark Done will automatically assign the task to the current date and time by default. This ensures that every task is recorded immediately, even if you forget to set a due date.
But don’t worry—this isn’t the only way to add tasks. There’s an even more efficient method: the inline form. This quick-add option lets you create tasks directly from the task view, saving you time and allowing for rapid entry. I’ll walk you through how to use it shortly, so you can streamline your task management even further.
Auto Due Date Categories
Tasks are automatically sorted into useful categories like ‘Long Forgotten’, ‘Overdue’, ‘Due Today’, ‘Due Tomorrow’, ‘Due After Tomorrow’, and ‘Future’. This organization helps you focus on what’s most important in the moment, making it easier to stay on top of your tasks.
Long Forgotten tasks are those that were due two days ago, allowing you to quickly see what you’ve missed. Future tasks, which function more like long-term goals, are those set six months from now, giving you the ability to plan ahead with ease.
While this automatic sorting is designed to handle most tasks efficiently, it might not always capture everything. But don’t worry—you can still find all your tasks neatly stored in your custom categories, ensuring nothing gets overlooked.
Custom Categories
Create custom categories that perfectly fit your needs, whether it’s for work, personal projects, or hobbies. You have full control over how your tasks are grouped, making it easy to organize your life in a way that works for you.
When adding a category, you can personalize it by choosing an icon and selecting an icon color. This icon will appear next to your custom category, just below the default due date categories, adding a visual cue to your organization.
Keep in mind that once a category is added, you won’t be able to modify or update it later. If you want to change the icon or color, you’ll need to delete the category and create a new one. Deleting a category is simple—just hover over the category, and a trash icon will appear for easy removal.
Settings
Let the fun begin with a wide range of customization options in the settings menu. Adjust everything from task preferences to appearance settings, including themes, font styles, and much more.
You have the power to personalize every detail—edit the border radius of the task layout, adjust the sidebar blur, and even set custom background images for both light and dark modes. Prefer a minimalist look? You can remove the background entirely. And if you ever want to revert to the original settings, there’s a quick button to reset everything back to default.
Explore the settings and discover just how much you can tailor Mark Done to your style.
Theme Toggler
Switch seamlessly between light and dark themes with the theme toggler, giving you the flexibility to choose the setting that best suits your environment and mood at any moment. Whether you prefer a bright, vibrant interface or a more subdued, dark mode, you have the power to customize your experience to match your surroundings.
If you prefer a more automated approach, you can leave the theme set to ‘System Default,’ allowing the UI to adapt to the theme settings of your device. This universal feature ensures that Mark Done will automatically align with your device's theme, providing a consistent and comfortable viewing experience without the need for manual adjustments.
Personally, I find the system theme to be incredibly convenient—it ensures that the UI of both the tasks and the website adjusts effortlessly to whatever theme you have set on your device. Thank GOD for this universal device feature! 😋
Edit Mode
I have to admit, this was partly my excuse to add a super cool drag-and-drop feature to the app! Right now, it allows you to move tasks seamlessly from one category to another. However, I'm considering an enhancement that would enable moving tasks between the automatic due date categories as well, which I believe would improve the feature even further. Stay tuned for updates on this!
Currently, you can enjoy the drag-and-drop functionality in EDIT MODE, where you can easily drag tasks from one category to another. Additionally, in the standard UI, you can simply hold and drag a task into different task categories or even into the auto-generated due date categories. This intuitive feature makes task management not only more efficient but also a bit more enjoyable.
Inline Add Tasks
Add tasks directly from the category view without the need to navigate to another screen. The inline task-adding feature streamlines your workflow, allowing you to update your list on the fly with minimal effort.
One of my favorite aspects of this feature is that it works seamlessly even in the automatic due date categories. When you add a task using the inline form, it inherits characteristics based on the category where the form is open.
For example, if you’re adding a task within a specific category, like 'Home,' the task will automatically be categorized and prioritized according to the settings of that category. You can quickly add tasks for tomorrow, mark them as completed, or categorize them under 'Home'—all from within the same view. This intuitive functionality makes task management more efficient and tailored to your needs.
Timer
Stay on top of your tasks with convenient timers. Set timers for individual tasks and receive a notification in the bottom right corner once the alarm goes off. Clicking on this notification will automatically scroll you to the timer, ensuring you never miss an alert.
On the timer interface, you have several options to manage your tasks effectively. You can mark the timed task as complete, extend the timer by 5 or 10 minutes if you need more time, dismiss the timer if the task is no longer relevant, or pause it to resume later. This flexibility helps you stay organized and adapt to your changing schedule with ease.
Find you task
Easily locate tasks with our powerful search feature. If you’ve misplaced a task or simply need to find one quickly, click on the ‘Find Task’ button in the top left mini menu. This action will open a centered task list with a search bar at the top. As you type, tasks will be filtered in real-time, making it easy to pinpoint what you need.
While in the search modal, you can perform most task management functions, such as updating the task status, setting a timer, and more. However, please note that drag-and-drop functionality is not available within this search view. This ensures that you can efficiently manage and find your tasks without missing a beat.
Filter tasks menu
Effortlessly filter tasks in your current view using the top right menu under the 'Filter Tasks' option. Currently, this feature is available for custom categories and the all-tasks list, with plans to expand it to the auto-generated due date lists in the future.
With the filtering options, you can organize your tasks based on several criteria: sort by task text (A-Z), due dates (closest first), date added (most recent first), or status (pending tasks first). These filters help you quickly find and prioritize tasks, streamlining your workflow and ensuring you stay on top of what needs attention.
Conclusion
Mark Done is designed to make your life easier by offering intuitive features and customization options that adapt to your needs. From efficient task organization and seamless filtering to personalized themes and powerful timers, everything is built with your productivity and ease of use in mind.
